Answer: 
Thank you for your question! It is unclear from the documentation for this camcorder if the USB connection is just used for data transfer or if it can also charge the device. The AC adapter that is included has a proprietary connection.

I recommend that you obtain a replacement charger from Sony's parts website directly.
