Date code?

I bought a 5 pack of 2430 batteries, there is no date on the battery or the package. There is JC printed on the back of each tear off which I'm assuming is a date code (my previous package had WI). What would the manufacturing date be and how long do these batteries last if unused? Why are the dates coded, we consumers look for these details when buying batteries?
thanks

Answer:
It sounds like you purchased a pack of batteries packaged for our professional customers. Most of our professional packaging does not contain any reference to code date, with exception to the ink print on the back of the cell itself. For the item you're referring to, it has an expiration date of Oct 2018. With that said, on any of our current packaging at retail outlets you should be able to find the code date on the front of the package, typically in the bottom left-hand corner.

Hope this helps.
